FAQ
Q: How do I know if I sweat / smell too much?
A: If you answer yes to any of the following, the miraDry procedure may be right for you.
Q: What is the miraDry procedure?
A: The miraDry procedure uses a safe, non-invasive technology that's FDA cleared to eliminate sweat glands in the underarms. The procedure is performed in your doctor's office and involves no surgical incisions or cuts. Local anesthesia is administered to the underarms prior to the procedure to maintain comfort. The results are lasting because the sweat glands do not come back or regenerate after they have been eliminated.
Q: How long does the procedure take and how many treatments do I need?
A: The miraDry procedure usually takes about an hour. You will see noticeable results in as little as one treatment. Of course, just like any other medical procedures, your doctor will customize the right solution that fits you the best based on your needs and expectations.
Q: What results can I expect?
A: Most patients report a dramatic, lasting reduction of their underarm sweat. In a recent clinical study, the average underarm sweat reduction was 82%**. You should notice a reduction in sweat immediately after treatment. As with any medical aesthetic procedure, results will vary by person.

Q: What happens after the procedure?
A: You can expect minimal downtime after the procedure, such as swelling, redness, temporary altered sensation, tingling, soreness, weakness, tight banding, pain, or bumps under the skin in the treated area and/or upper arm. Your doctor will likely recommend a mild over-the-counter pain medication and the use of ice packs for a few days. In most cases, these side effects will gradually go away. In rare cases, it can last for several months.
Q: Do the underarm sweat glands ever grow back?
A: No. The underarm sweat glands don't grow back or regenerate once they've been removed.
Q: Does miraDry cause increased sweating in other parts of the body?
A: No. When sweat glands are removed from the underarms, you simply stop sweating in that area. So don't worry - your body won't start sweating more in other areas to "compensate" or anything like that.
Q: Who is NOT suitable for miraDry treatment?
A: If you are under the age of 18, pregnant, lactating, have heart pacemakers / other electronic device implants, need supplemental oxygen or have a history of intolerance of local anesthesia lidocaine and epinephrine, please do NOT undergo the miraDry treatment.
